Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) is responsible for global household coffee brand names including Jacobs, Tassimo, Moccona, Ti Ora, Senseo, L’Or, Douwe Egberts, Marcilla, Super, Kenco, Pilào and Gevalia.
One of JDE’s most iconic and recognisable visual properties is our glass stopper Jar which is available in multiple countries across Moccona, Douwe Egberts and Marcilla brands. Since 2012, JDE has collaborated with artists and designers to produce a range of screen-printed, limited-edition jars, sold in selected markets. Previous partnerships include Orla Kiely in the UK, and Peter Alexander in AU/NZ.
In 2022, JDE is partnering with the next generation of young, socially conscious designers, to create a sustainability-themed, limited edition collection of 100% recyclable glass coffee jars to inspire people to take small steps towards a more sustainable world. The design theme aligns to JDE’s mission for all our packaging to be 100% recyclable by 2025.
In keeping with this sustainability theme, we are giving up and coming designers from a selection of top ANZ, Asian and European design schools, the chance to design a wrap for this limited edition collection of jars across our iconic Moccona and Marcilla brands.
So, if you’re a design student from one of the selected schools who cares about sustainability and would love to win $5,000 AUD, then kickstart your creativity today and enter now! Hurry though, competition closes soon.
To enter a valid submission in the Decorative Jar Project design competition, all entrants must:
Our glass jars are 100% recyclable and made of more than 50% recycled materials, and past Decorative Jar collections have inspired people to collect and upcycle their coffee jars, turning them into beautiful

With 87% of our packaging either recyclable of compostable, JDE is committed to reducing our environmental footprint while providing quality products that meet the needs and preferences of customers.
With this in mind, our overarching business objective and ongoing commitment to sustainability has seen us set two primary targets for 2025;
We care deeply about the environment, and are always looking for different ways to improve our coffee offering and reduce our impact on the world around us.
